Art Practicum presentation

Puffy paint
This presentation highlights my art practicum at Lincoln Elementary school. With in the presentation you will find the ups and downs of my practicum.  Things that I would change for future projects that are similar and things that went well.

Lesson plans

This first lesson plan is using Puffy paint to create paintings of fruit.  Puffy paint is very easy to make and the supplies can be found at the dollar store.  You just mix glue, shaving cream, and food coloring into a bowl to get the paint.  If you tell the kids right off from the start not to make a mess then this lesson will be simpler to do without worrying about a huge mess.

On this one I had the kids create a self portrait using a template of a cell phone screen.  Since due to technology increase younger children are learning about technology trends.  By using the "selfie" trend I tried to get the kids to be more connected with a term they are familiar with.

This lesson plan is using an integrated subject with arts I decided to use math.  I integrated shapes like quadrilaterals to create robots. It encourages the children to define and be familiarized with the mathematical terms and give them a hands on experience to visually represent the terms in a more interesting way.

In class assignments

I was not sure if we had to add these projects but these are all the in class assignments that we have done for the semester.  Including the 100 line, contour lines, doodle, and Raymond's story picture.

Batik

For this I tried to make leaves with a flower in the middle.  I added to much detail on the leaves part that when I added the glue it would blend in together making huge circles instead of the details I had.  The other problem I had was that I applied the glue on top of the outline of the painting and the sharpie ended up transferring on to the fabric.  I think this would be a cool project it just takes practice to get it right.  Even doing it on a t-shirt for the kids but it would end up being really expensive.

Light painting

I didn't realize till now but if you look closely at the top middle you can see the eyes of the person that helped me.  I think this assignment was fun the only difficulty is finding a place that is dark enough to do it.  I wanted to do this light painting outside but there is lots of light out side where I live.  The person I worked with this on had lots of fun and we even started to make it a game.  This was a fun project.

Zetangled

Out of all the assignments in this class this one turned out to be the hardest for me.  I did the scratch board three times with each time adding a different amount of soap and tempera paper. When I would go to scratch it and create the Zetangled look it would not get.  This one was the one paper that somewhat got the black paint but it was still hard to scratch with out ripping the paper.

Milk jug mask/Other mask

The first picture is the milk jug mask that is supposed to resemble and African mask.  The one thing I recommend if doing this project with children don't let them put on the mask right away.  You have to let it dry  or else the smell of shoe polish would be to strong.
For the other mask I decided to use an egg carton.  I highly recommend this one when working with younger kids.  As you can see the eye holes are really close together and small so when you put this mask on it looks really silly.  With children they are sure to get a laugh seeing everyone with their masks on.
